Research Peptide Storage

Proper storage and careful laboratory handling can help protect the integrity and stability of research peptides. The recommendations below provide general guidance for lyophilized research materials.

Because peptide stability can vary according to sequence, formulation, packaging, and intended analytical application, always follow the product-specific documentation, certificate of analysis, and storage instructions supplied with each material.

Controlled Temperature

Store research peptides in a cool, dry, and temperature-controlled laboratory environment. Lyophilized materials may tolerate limited periods at ambient temperature during transportation or routine laboratory handling, but prolonged exposure to warmer conditions should be avoided.

For extended storage, many lyophilized research peptides are commonly maintained at −20°C or colder. Certain materials may require lower temperatures, depending on their sequence and product-specific stability requirements.

Protection from Moisture

Moisture can reduce the long-term stability of lyophilized research materials. Keep vials tightly sealed and store them in a dry environment whenever possible.

After removing a vial from cold storage, allow the unopened container to reach room temperature before opening it. This can help reduce condensation and prevent atmospheric moisture from entering the vial.

Light Protection

Some peptide materials may be sensitive to direct light or ultraviolet exposure. Keep research products away from direct sunlight and bright laboratory lighting during storage.

Whenever appropriate, retain the product in its original protective packaging or use suitable opaque secondary storage containers to reduce unnecessary light exposure.

Clean Laboratory Handling

Use appropriate laboratory practices to minimize the risk of contamination. Work with clean instruments, suitable personal protective equipment, and properly maintained work surfaces.

Avoid direct contact with the material and do not introduce used instruments, moisture, or foreign substances into the original container.

Limit Temperature Cycling

Repeated movement between frozen, refrigerated, and room-temperature conditions may negatively affect the stability of some peptide materials.

When repeated laboratory access is anticipated, researchers may divide materials into appropriately labeled working aliquots. This helps reduce repeated exposure of the complete stock sample to changing environmental conditions.

Reliable Storage Equipment

Use laboratory refrigeration or freezer equipment capable of maintaining a stable operating temperature. Household appliances may experience greater temperature variation, particularly when doors are opened frequently or during automatic defrost cycles.

Where appropriate, use temperature monitoring, alarm systems, and backup procedures to help protect valuable research materials from unexpected storage interruptions.

PEPTIDE PREPARATION

Peptide Reconstitution

Elite Peptique products are supplied as lyophilized, or freeze-dried, powder. Before use in a controlled research setting, the powder must be dissolved in a suitable liquid.

Bacteriostatic water is commonly used, but the correct solvent may vary depending on the peptide and research protocol.

Remove the Caps

Remove the protective plastic caps from the peptide vial and the bacteriostatic water vial.

Clean the Vials

Wipe the rubber stopper on both vials with an alcohol swab and allow them to dry.

Measure the Water

Using suitable sterile laboratory equipment, measure the required amount of bacteriostatic water.

Add the Water Slowly

Slowly add the water to the peptide vial, allowing it to run gently down the inside wall of the vial.

Mix Gently

Lightly swirl the vial until the powder has fully dissolved. Do not shake the vial.

Store Correctly

Follow the product-specific storage instructions and protect the prepared solution from unnecessary heat, light, and contamination.
